Ceremony Format Guide

  • Introduction – Linda welcomes everyone to the wedding.
  • The Love Story of the Bride and Groom
  • First Poem – Reading, Ritual – Opportunity for family/friends involvement – can include a poem/reading or ritual.
  • Monitum – Legal wording spoken by Linda from the Marriage Act.
  • The Asking – Linda asks the couple if they will take the other to be their partner in life (‘I do’).
  • The Vows – The couple say their legal vows to each other and then can include vows they have written to each other. They can be read from a card or repeated after Linda.
  • Second Poem – Reading, Ritual – Opportunity for family/friends involvement – can include a poem/reading or ritual.
  • Exchange of Rings – One ring or two rings are exchanged by the happy couple.
  • Declaration of Marriage – Woohoo! You are married!
  • The Kiss
  • Signing of the Marriage Register – The lovebirds, Linda and two witnesses sign the legal documents.  Music can be played here.
  • Presentation of the Marriage Certificate
